Keith Richards – Charcoal on Paper Portrait

I get an enormous amount of satisfaction from creating all of my rock icon portraits, however, I got completely lost in the creation of this particular work.

I understand the man much better after reading his superb memoir Life, written by Keith with the assistance of journalist James Fox.

Such an incredible life story that isn’t finished yet by any means. Yes, Keith Richards is still alive!
I got to see Keith and the Rolling Stones back in 2018 on their No Filter Tour at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry. This was my first, and to date only time seeing them live. I was absolutely blown away. Hit by the energy, sound, vibe, fun and total Rock n Roll experience and lucky to be at the front thanks to a ‘result’ for me and my Son, Dan on the ‘Lucky Dip’ tickets. How Keith Richards can play guitar like he’s not trying with his wry smile and yet play killer riffs. Also to experience the instinctive connection between Keith Richards and Ronnie Wood playing live and swapping from lead to rhythm guitar seamlessly.

As of today’s date Keith Richards age is 77. I hope he keeps rocking us for ever.

To date there is just one of the limited edition fine art prints of this artwork remaining. This is framed and available to purchase from my studio, or contact me by email at: s.kirk.andrews@gmail.com
