Constable Visits Dudley and I Get Inspired!
The National Gallery exhibited The Cornfield by Constable in Dudley town centre in July 2023.
Inspired by the visit of Constable’s masterpiece I created a juxtaposition in Indian ink and charcoal on paper (31cm h x 29cm w)
John Constable’s artwork, painted in 1826 is a beautiful, lush countryside scene that depicts a young shepherd boy drinking from a pool in the heat of summer.
I wanted to highlight in my artwork the sad nature of what is happening in our countryside today.
